Hace algunos años (más de los que quisiera mencionar). Mi meta era ir a Harvard School of Design a estudiar Arquitectura. Llene los papeles de applicación, hice el SAT 1 (1250), pedi cartas de recomendación a mis profesores y cuando llego el momento de hacer el SAT 2 me acobardé, cambie de carrera, deje todo mi plan “Massachusetts” botado y de eso solo quedó mi ensayo de admision, el tema era algo asi como el liderazgo y lo que estuviera pasando en la region:
"During decades we have seen Latin America sink in debts. Just last year (2002) Argentina declared themselves in bankruptcy and there are many other American countries going in the same direction. Their problems exist mainly because of their citizen’s love for power and lust. Its leader, president, military head or whomever, may have started with a search for justice and equality but it ends up being just a search for power and corruption.

Central America has some of the poorest countries, but instead of spending the little money they can get on education, food, transport and social needs, they spend it on a huge army, the guns, bombs and tanks they need, for what? A war that may never come, a big army that they don’t need, a greater possibility of a coup of state, and the political instability?
As long as there are political crisis, guerrillas, unneeded expenses on army, and not enough good, and honest leaders the economic situation cannot change. I believe it is important for my generation to be aware of the problem, to make it better, and to become the leaders that this countries need. I want to make a better future for my people and I think that the first step is acknowledging a problem, and observing. Observing those who’ve done it before us, and learning from their mistakes, not to be to proud and ask for help when need. And only when every Latin American citizen is aware of what needs to be done, and takes conscience on it will the crisis be overcomed."
Que dicen mi yo de 16 años hubiera entrado a Harvard? quien sabe.. le doy mucho enfasis a lo malo del ejercito y a los gringos no les gustaria...Al final de cuentas no me arrepiento. Yo me sacaba buenas notas porque decia que me importaba mucho mi futuro, se me hacia fácil muchas veces, pero tenia un fin. Segundo mejor promedio en el cole después de Mari, overachiever con entrenamientos de porrismo, fut, jazz, clases de 125, francés en la Alianza (todo al mismo tiempo). Me gustaba sobresalir en lo "academico". Pero con el tiempo me he dado cuenta algo que ya sabia, ya habia oído, pero no habia querido escuchar. Con el tiempo he comprobado que el que es bueno en algo es bueno con educación de la Veritas, de Harvard o a puro empirismo. Es bueno aqui y en cualquier parte del mundo. Siempre hay algo nuevo que aprender, algo que alguien más nos puede enseñar, tecnología, conocimiento, herramientas... pero lo más importante, es el talento y las ganas de hacer algo por uno mismo. El que es bueno no necesita aprobación de grandes instituciones o grandes paises. Su trabajo y esfuerzo hablan por si solos.
